Like his antecedent on the wall, poor Donald has done nothing. He was, however, enabled by a political establishment and financial gurus who promised him impunity, immunity and an increasing fortune.
Moreover, his position was affirmed by the supreme legislative body in the land. Not a year ago they proclaimed all fine and dandy. And then they watched while his wall collapsed.
So, poor Donald feels betrayed. And he was. Did he not hollow out the bureaucratic swamp as the vipers on the Hill demanded? Did he not follow the model of extortion as it has been practiced on the Hill for decades? Did he not favor the corporate sector with more tax breaks, so they would harness their workers to vote right and keep the military contract revenues flowing? And did he not keep the electorate and media distracted with daily antics so the voters would endorse the incumbents? But not him!
The Brookings Institution tells us that “the outsiders” are the up and coming thing in the Republican party. It is what their last two candidates in Georgia claim to be—people without experience. Which may account for why no services have been provided to the country for years. How else does it happen that a contract for nose swabs that ended in April of 2020 got issued on December 15, 2020?
Poor Donald’s wall was not well built. The swamp creatures were not supportive. Will the vipers on the Hill take note or keep recruiting more know-nothings?
